Stoney Creek on the Mountain

Stoney Creek on the Mountain is a rapidly developing community that has grown significantly in the past 5 to 10 years. With a wide range of detached homes and townhomes available, this community offers a variety of options to potential residents.

Housing Options

Stoney Creek on the Mountain primarily consists of detached homes and townhomes, with some new developments expected in the near future. Currently, no condos are developed, but plans for the Peak Condos, a low-rise building, are underway. Additionally, two townhome complexes, Peachy on the Mountain and On the Ridge, are currently in the planning stages.

Stoney Creek on the Mountain neighbourhood

As the original neighbourhoods in Stoney Creek on the Mountain were built in the 1990s, there are many established amenities, local shops, and restaurants in the vicinity of these newer communities.

The Greek Palace stands out with fantastic souvlaki, gyro, and baklava.

Another unique feature of this community is the Starlite Drive-In movie theatre, located right beside the newer communities.

Green Spaces

One of the highlights of living in Stoney Creek on the Mountain is the proximity to several beautiful natural areas. The Devil’s Punchbowl offers stunning views of the waterfall and the surrounding area, including Central Stoney Creek and Hamilton. Albion Falls is another must-see natural attraction, and the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area provides hiking trails and caves for exploration.

Residents of Stoney Creek on the Mountain have easy access to the Lincoln Alexander Parkway, which runs east to west throughout Hamilton’s Mountain. The Red Hill Valley Parkway also provides easy access to the QEW for travel to Burlington or Niagara.

Pier 8

Hamilton’s Pier 8 community, situated on the northeast end of the city, is a massive development currently in the planning stages.

This community is known for Waterfront Shores, a project that involves converting Pier 8 into a modern community with unique buildings and local shops along the waterfront. The developers plan to build over 1,500 homes of various sizes, ranging from one-bed condos to three and four-bed townhomes.

Pre-construction Phase

Although Pier 8 is in the early stages of pre-construction, it presents a great opportunity for those who plan to move to the area in the next couple of years. While it’s the most significant development in the north end of Hamilton, there are other condo buildings and smaller townhome complexes in the area that are nearing completion.

Pier 8 plan

Once the construction is complete and residents move in, they will have access to various amenities in the Pier 8 community.

Bayfront Park, situated just a walk away from Pier 8, offers a walking path and a beach where residents can relax with their pets. Additionally, there are two notable food spots nearby. Granddad’s Donuts, known for its classic variety of donuts, including the Walnut Crunch, is highly recommended. Collective Arts Brewery is another option for residents who appreciate craft beer.

Transportation is convenient for Pier 8 residents who commute to Toronto regularly.

The West Harbor GO Station, located in the community, has a train departing every hour, and the trip takes about an hour and ten minutes to reach Union Station.

Additionally, residents who prefer to commute by car have easy access to the 403 highway, which takes them either east or west.

Waterdown is a great option for families who are looking for newer communities to live in. It is situated between Burlington and Hamilton, on the very top of the Niagara Escarpment. This is perfect for families who want the peace and quiet of a smaller town charm while still enjoying all the amenities that a large city has to offer.

Additionally, the area has two spots that are currently experiencing a lot of development, each with its own unique features and benefits.

West Waterdown - North of Parkside Road

The second area that has seen significant development in Waterdown is on the west side, just north of Parkside Road.

One of the great things about both of these areas is that they are adjacent to an established older community, which gives them a small-town feel. You will find many local restaurants and shops here, as well as established schools for families to take advantage of.

East Waterdown - South of Dundas (Highway 5)

The first area is located on the east side of Waterdown, just south of Dundas. This neighbourhood offers a wide range of detached homes and townhomes to choose from, as well as a brand-new condo building that is still under construction.

Many of my clients who are interested in Burlington find this neighbourhood appealing because it offers access to all the same amenities as Burlington without the premium price tags.

There are plenty of reasons to enjoy living here in Waterdown. For one, there are many shopping options, including four major shopping centers.

If you’re looking for even more variety, a quick drive to Burlington or downtown Hamilton will give you access to even more shopping options. But shopping is just the beginning; there’s so much to do in Waterdown.

You can visit the Flamboro Downs Casino to play slots or blackjack or even bet on horse races. For those who prefer quieter activities, there’s the classic Waterdown library or the Harry Howell Arena, where your kids can play some hockey.

Hamilton overall has amazing public transportation, but within Waterdown, the transportation system is quite isolated.

There is only one main bus that circles the town, making it difficult to take public transportation from Waterdown to Central Hamilton or Central Burlington without multiple transfers. This has resulted in most residents being heavily reliant on cars for transportation.

If you are looking for a neighbourhood in Hamilton that offers brand-new homes at affordable prices, Binbrook may be worth considering.

Situated on the mountain and in the rural part of Hamilton, this small community is growing rapidly and has lots of new development options to choose from.

Housing Options

Binbrook is a neighbourhood on the opposite side of Hamilton from Stoney Creek. It features brand-new detached homes and townhomes that were built around 2010 up until today. These homes are one of the more affordable options within Hamilton’s borders, making them attractive to potential buyers.

While Binbrook is an up-and-coming area with new homes, it still has some growing pains. It is a rural section of Hamilton, which means there are fewer amenities nearby.

To access many different amenities, you’ll often have to take a 10-minute drive to Stoney Creek on the mountain. However, there are a few basic grocery stores, Shoppers Drug Mart, and some local restaurants in the center of Binbrook.

Local Farms and Conservation Areas

Binbrook has many close local farms where you can help support the local community by buying fresh produce from their local food stalls.

The Binbrook Conservation Area is also nearby, offering amazing trails and nature for you to explore. There are options to go treetop trekking, enjoy the beach, and even go wakeboarding on the lake here.
